The Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer launched an awareness conference to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The conference was attended by several officials, fighters, and Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin Al-Qabbaj.
During her speech, Al-Qabbaj emphasized that awareness is the soft power driving the state's renaissance, noting that Baheya Foundation, established by Egyptian hands, has become a significant landmark of pride for all Egyptians in the fight against cancer. Al-Qabbaj saluted all cancer fighters, who undoubtedly symbolize patience and struggle despite difficulties and hardships, stating that their participation in this celebration sends a message of hope to all patients. She also commended the Ministry of Health and Population for the successful early breast cancer detection campaign. According to studies conducted by the ministry, 59% of women diagnosed with breast cancer were in the late stages, but this percentage has decreased to 29% thanks to the presidential initiative. These successes are among the most important results of the Presidential Initiative for Women's Health, which aims to treat and care for nearly 28 million women nationwide through early disease detection, treatment, and comprehensive awareness of the disease's causes and self-examination methods.
Dr. Jailan Ahmed, Executive Director of Baheya Foundation, stated, "Despite the surrounding circumstances, we decided to move forward in our challenge against breast cancer, while our brothers in humanity face the cancer of occupation and random killing, reaching the level of genocide." Ahmed added, "We gather today to emphasize the necessity of breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection to aid Egyptian women through Baheya Foundation, which provides services from diagnosis to various treatment methods and psychological support during and after treatment." Engineer Tamer Shawky, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Baheya Foundation, said, "By spreading awareness across Egypt, specifically among women, we aim to save thousands of cases that can be rescued without surgical intervention and can avoid a difficult treatment journey."
Shawky added, "Through Baheya Foundation, we work to promote healthy lifestyle choices for women to reduce the risk of breast cancer and provide support and resources for women with breast cancer. This is the ultimate goal of our awareness campaigns—to bring knowledge and information to every woman in Egypt and the Arab world."
